Gaddafi sets out flame-based vision for 21st century Libya

COLONEL Gaddafi has made a renewed effort to rally the Libyan people with a pledge to set everything on fire.

'Do you need a lift to the polling station?'

In a move which confirms the deposed dictator is planning to stand in free elections, he set out his vision for the country based on flamethrowers and people running for their lives.

He said: “The National Transitional Council has failed to keep its promises. Inflation and unemployment are up, while someone visiting Libya for the first time would be forgiven for thinking this country is in the midst of a civil war.

“It is time for change.”

Gaddafi has registered a new political party called the National Democrats and organised a 12-date speaking tour, as well as a series of daytime TV appearances.

And in small Libyan towns volunteers are already handing out campaign leaflets while simultaneously setting fire to them with a Zippo lighter.

Meanwhile, the candidate is also set to release a political memoir entitled, I Will Turn Your Life into a Smouldering Ruin: Muhammar Gaddafi’s Spiritual Journey.

He added: “I pledge that a National Democrat government will make it our priority to set fire to everything within two years.

“But I cannot do this alone. We are all in this together. So that means that if your local militia has not quite got round to setting fire to your house then show some initiative and set fire to it yourself.

“That is what I mean when I talk about the Big, On Fire Society.”
