A MAN is boycotting the new Harry Potter series on the grounds that he is far too old for it.
Martin Bishop, 48, has resolved not to watch the upcoming HBO series because tales of a magical boarding school are clearly not aimed at him and he has not even seen The Wire yet.
Father-of-two Bishop said: “I’ve already got the gist of Harry Potter over the years. Some magic kid has a scar on his forehead. There’s a broomstick sport. Something about a talking hat. Next.
“I’m sure it’ll be an entertaining bit of escapism if you’re at primary school. But anyone older should really be watching grown-up telly like The Sopranos, or pursuing more dignified hobbies like gambling.
“And if you’re already a fan, won’t you be bored of sitting through the same story again? I can’t see them bringing in a sinister android or having a grippingly realistic gun battle in Hogwarts. Which is a shame, I might watch that.
“I assume this is why people on the internet are pissed off. I can’t see any other reason why anyone would turn on a beloved book series about a fantastical universe that has nothing to do with the real world.”
Bishop’s daughter Emma said: “I was proud of dad because I thought he was being an ally. But when I congratulated him he just said a giant on a flying motorbike sounded like bollocks.”
