ELLIE Goulding has said the asylum protests made her ‘embarrassed to be British’. And as usual right-wingers are furious a celeb has dared have an unremarkable opinion. Take these…
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel has progressive views, but right-wingers mainly hate him for not going along with JK Rowling’s weird anti-trans obsession. Apparently he’s ungrateful for not giving his support to someone most people just find a bit concerning these days. What’s wrong with you, Daniel? Supporting JK hasn’t done Graham Linehan any harm!
Ellie Goulding
Not supporting the asylum protests isn’t exactly a dangerously radical stance akin to joining the Red Army Faction. You might just feel that racism – clearly on display at the protests – is bad, as is being a far-right extremist. God knows what other deranged thoughts are going through Ms Goulding’s mind – she’s probably against famine and motorway pile-ups too.
David Tennant
Tennant’s spat with Kemi Badenoch was the result of a speech in which he said that trans people should be free to live as they choose, ‘as long as they’re not hurting anyone else’. Which is a good thing to believe, but also the most basic and obvious thing you can say about human rights. What he said about Badenoch was: ‘I just wish her to shut up.’ Which, after you’ve heard her moronically prattling on about any subject, is probably the least controversial opinion ever.
Charlotte Church
Right-wingers hate Charlotte for supporting the Palestinians. But opposing the mass murder of civilians isn’t exactly a fringe view only crackpots adhere to. You suspect they also hate the Welsh singer for getting ideas above her station and not just doing the nice songs. And, more creepily, not being 16 anymore.
Emma Watson
‘Trans people deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned,’ is the sort of extremist rhetoric Watson comes out with. When will this young-ish actress you’d totally expect to have fairly liberal views stop making these inflammatory, hate-filled statements? She’s basically saying all cisgender straight men should have their penises cut off and burned.
Gary Lineker
What’s odd about right-wingers’ murderous hatred of Lineker is that nothing he’s said is particularly radical, and just the sort of thing an ordinary, not even very politically engaged, person might think. Goodness knows what would happen if these right-wingers met a genuine left-winger like a member of the Socialist Workers Party. Spontaneous human combustion?
Katy Perry
Katy is opposed to global warming, the cow. She even attended a climate change event despite sometimes using a private jet, causing the Daily Mail to dub her a ‘hypocrite Greenerati’ in their usual clunky way. It’s just a shame they won’t explain what’s good about extreme weather disasters, food and water shortages, the collapse of ecosystems and life being a living hell for the last few generations of humans. That would be really interesting.
